A little bit about me

Hi, my name is Julia, and I’m 22!
I’m the oldest in my family and have three siblings. My little brother is on the spectrum, and is my best friend. He has learning and developmental issues, so I do have quite a lot of personal experience with children on the spectrum. I also have two younger sisters, one who is very shy, and has a hard time making friends, and the other with a severe learning disability. I’m able to help with homework, and also help your kids learn social skills. I know school is hard, making friends is hard, and liking yourself is hard. I think it’s important to remind kids to love who they are, and whatever struggles they are having doesn’t make them any less awesome! (that’s often what I tell my siblings) I don’t have any paid nannying experience, but a lot of personal experience. I’m also really good with infants. I watch my cousins toddler and 6 month old whenever I’m able. I am not CPR certified, but I can 100% go get that if that makes you more comfortable!!!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

For my entire high school education, I worked in a class with Special Ed students. I taught a lot of those friends how to read, I think that’s the most rewarding thing that has ever happened to me.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I LOVE GOING TO THE PARK! Picnics, going to the library, going on walks. I love being outside and so do children. However, that’s obviously not always an option. I also love watching movies, playing games, drawing/ coloring. Honestly, I’m a kid at heart, I love doing kid things.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked in ABA for a year, working one on one with special needs studies 5 days a week. My little brother is also on the spectrum and I spent a lot of time caring for him.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When my little brother was 14, I taught him how to make his own grilled cheese. Poor kid tried so hard, burned it so bad the smoke alarm went off. Kid cried for awhile. We worked on it for the rest of that week, and by the end he was able to do it by himself. Now, he’s 18 years old, and he makes us both a grilled cheese everyday after school. It makes my want to son every time. I love teaching life skills to kids, and it’s my favorite thing when they nail it!
