A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Kaila and I’m 35. I’ve been part time babysitting/nannying over the course of the past 15 years while working full time in customer service. After dedicating most of my time to a full time customer service position for 10 years, I realized I wasn’t as happy as I am when I’m caring for children. The majority of children I’ve cared for have been between the ages of 6 months- 9 years old. I’m big on activities/crafts that keep kids engaged. I grew up in a very artistic household so my childhood was full of all kinds of arts, crafts and projects. They’re some of my favorite memories of being a kid and I want to bring those same experiences to the kids I work with. Some things I enjoy doing while caring for children (depending on ages) are puzzles, coloring/drawing, finger painting, simple baking, walks or park visits, scavenger hunts and reading.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve been babysitting since I was in high school. I’ve had a few part time nanny positions over the years as well as helping care for my nieces. I’m currently working a part time nanny position for a 1.5 year old, but the location is a bit far for me and starting to take a toll.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Some indoor activities that I love to do with children are arts and crafts. I grew up in a very creative household so I have dabbled in many types of projects. I also love working on brain teasers and puzzles. It helps them with their problem solving skills and attention to detail. I enjoy presenting them with activities that don’t always involve electronic games. Outdoor activities I enjoy doing with children are scavenger hunts, drawing with chalk, playing in the pool or sprinklers, going to the park, going on little scenic walks and looking for and identifying different insects and flowers. Everything can be a learning experience as long as you make it exciting.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is creating a positive lasting bond with the child and their family and maintaining structure within that bond. I don’t want to be just a nanny. Because this isn’t just a job. Taking on the responsibility of caring for a child and having a hand in their early stages of development is a privilege. My duty is to do right by the child and their family. To offer love, support, encouragement and structure.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment would have to be when I finally see the child warm up to me. I know how hard it can be for some kids to be away from their parents and the transition can be tough for them. But when I finally reach the day that they aren’t upset/don’t cry when their parents leave and they’re happy and excited to see me feels like a big accomplishment because I know they feel comfortable with me.
