Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
After weeks of endless frustrations, I was finally able to teach one of my preschoolers how to write His name all by himself for the first time. He burst out into tears of pride. When he looked at me he handed me the paper where he had just wrote his name for the first time and told me to please keep it because it was with all of my help he was able to finally master it himself. We wrote his name together over and over on the white boards and when his parents came to pick him up that day it was very emotional, he was just so excited and mom snd dad we’re so proud!! To be able to take a step back and recognize that I was able to make such a huge different in this little boy’s day snd then his parents reactions… I cried my whole way home from work that night it’s the little moments that mean everything.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Is showing up to your calling everyday, consistently not because you want the paycheck but because you have a passion from your soul that makes working with kids feel like I’m getting paid to enjoy myself with a child that I have truly bonded with and enjoy being around. This field of work certainly isn’t for everybody but I throughly embrace every second of it. This is my calling.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with children all over the spectrum. Children with mental illness such as depression. Anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, I have worked with children and teens with oppositional defiance disorder with severe mood disturbances who often got so anxious that they became physically aggressive. When I see a child loosing control like that I know it’s because they’re scared. They are overwhelmed with something at hand and lack the appropriate coping skills for mood regulation. Acting and lashing out whether it be psychical or emotionally is a desperate cry for help and the root of the issue needs to be addressed in a comfortable and safe manner.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The day we (mom, dad, lauren, James, me) drove 4 hours to pick up a surprise puppy for the kids!! They were getting really annoyed and didn’t want to be in the car anymore. Once we got to the farm and they saw pups running around their faces light up and they we ecstatic !! That day will always be one of my favorite memories!
