Hi families! My name is Karina. I’ve been working in early childhood education since 2023, gaining experience with children of different ages, personalities, and developmental needs. My experience has taught me the importance of understanding each child as an individual and creating an environment where they feel safe, supported, and encouraged to grow.

I’m currently finishing my bachelor’s degree in Social Work at UConn, which has further strengthened my interest in working with children and families. I enjoy encouraging independence, supporting children’s development, and finding ways to make everyday activities fun and engaging.

I’m bilingual in English and Spanish, CPR certified, and comfortable helping with meals, homework, activities, and daily routines. I’m also an animal lover and happy to help with feeding and caring for family pets. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve been caring for children for most of my life, starting with babysitting my younger siblings at an early age. This gave me hands-on experience long before I began working professionally. Since January 2023, I’ve worked as a daycare teacher at KinderCare, caring for children of different ages, personalities, and developmental needs. My responsibilities include supervising children, assisting with meals and daily routines, planning activities, and supporting their social and emotional development. Working in a classroom has also taught me how to manage multiple children at once and adapt to their individual needs. I’m also a mom of two, so I understand childcare from both a professional and personal perspective. I know firsthand how important it is to have someone you can trust with your children, and I bring that same level of care and responsibility to the families I work with.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy keeping children active and engaged through arts and crafts, reading, puzzles, imaginative play, and other hands-on activities. I also love spending time outdoors, whether it’s going for walks, visiting playgrounds, playing sports, or exploring nature. I like planning activities around each child’s age and interests while encouraging creativity and independence. I’m also happy to help with transportation when needed, including taking children to weekend sports games, practices, birthday parties, or other activities, as well as picking them up afterward.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny to me is knowing that I’m making a difference for both the children and their families. Whether it’s providing reliable childcare, helping with daily responsibilities, or making a parent’s day a little easier, I enjoy being someone a family can depend on. I know how much it means to have an extra helping hand and I find that just as rewarding as working with the children themselves.

My experience with special needs children...

I’m currently working with children with autism and different developmental, learning, and behavioral needs through my job in childcare. I’m also a social work student interning at DDS, where I work with individuals with developmental disabilities. I’m a strong advocate for children with special needs and understand the importance of being patient, flexible, and attentive to each child’s needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moments are seeing kids accomplish something they couldn’t do before, especially when they’ve been trying for a while. I love seeing how excited and proud they get when they realize they can finally do it on their own. Even the smallest accomplishments can mean so much to them, and being able to see that growth is one of my favorite parts of working with children :)
