A little bit about me

Hi there! My name is Karissa Unger. I am 28 years old, married to my wonderful husband of 3 years and dog mom of two. I was an internal investigator for over 6 years before I decided to, as cheesy as it may sound, “chase my dream”. I left that career to become an eyelash technician. I currently have a part time position at Lumi Beauty Bar in Wayzata and I am currently looking for additional income on the side as I build my new career.

I started babysitting at the young age of 11 for my parents and their friends. When I was 21 years old, I consistently babysat two young girls for a period of two years.

I absolutely adore working with kids and have worked my sisters daycare in Northfield as a sub to support for the past two years. I am up to date in Infant and Child CPR Certification and through Minnesota Develop Tool I am certified in the following:

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I currently sub at my sister’s daycare in Northfield, Little Stinkers and Thinkers. Supporting my family is everything and the kids are absolutely wonderful! It is with heavy heart to leave the daycare due to me moving to Minnetonka. I take pride in the way I interact with the children in my care and love every minute watching them continue to develop and grow over the past two years. I would be grateful for the opportunity to support another family by bringing my care, experience, and knowledge.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing so many activities with children such as home made crafts for parents to be surprised with, walks, parks, field trips, puzzles, brain breaks, baking, and music/dancing.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My top priority as a childcare provider is meeting parents’ standards of care while creating a safe, nurturing, and enjoyable environment for the children.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with two children with special needs over a period of one year at the daycare. I have a couple young family members with special needs and I understand how that sometimes requires more patience and understanding the needs of that specific child. I am highly patient and empathetic, providing a dependable and compassionate presence for children with special needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

At the daycare, we host an annual holiday pot luck with all the kids and their families (including siblings that aren’t in our care). After dinner, we volunteer to keep any of the kids until 11pm allowing parents to have time to themselves. Last year we had a dance party with the kids, built forts, and had a movie night all bundled on the bean bags. It was the sweetest thing to see all the kids and their siblings interact and just have an awesome time with all their friends. I pride our relationship we have with the parents.
