In college, I spent a lot of time working with elementary, middle, and high school students in a school setting. I helped with group instruction as well as individual instruction. I also worked in after school programs where I helped lead activities with middle school children. I currently work as a tutor where I work with students of all ages with their reading and writing skills.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love doing arts and crafts with kids. Anything from popsicle sticks to using shaving cream to make cloud paintings. My approach to arts and crafts activities is to make them fun but to also make them educational. I am also able to think in the moment to make changes to activities to ensure that all children are safe and having fun.

The most important is making sure that children are always safe and always feel safe. I try to create an environment that encourages kids to develop emotionally and intellectually. My method of approaching all situations is to ensure that the children feel heard and feel that their opinions are taken into consideration.
My experience with special needs children...
In my current position as a tutor, I work a lot with children on the autism spectrum as well as students with ADHD. I have learned some behavioral techniques as well as methods to interact with them.
