A little bit about me

My name is Karsen, I turned 23 years old this past October. I am looking for a full time nanny position & am available to start as soon as I am needed. I was a nanny for three almost four years. While being a nanny I also went to school to become a medical assistant which is what I pursued when the little one went off to school! Before I actually became a (paid) nanny, I was just a normal after hours babysitter for family, friends, & my mother's student's siblings. Throughout that time I also was a student teacher for earth science and tutored general & special ed. children. My mother has been a behavior analyst/ special ed. teacher for 15 years & I have been blessed to be able to learn from her each & every day. I am extremely vibrant and goofy, so you will never catch me without a smile on my face. My abilities stretch even further than just child care, I also am more than willing to help in any/ all areas. I am more than dependable & hope you will consider me as part of the family!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Volunteering is the gift that keeps on giving! I volunteered as not only a baby sitter, student teacher, but also an after school tutor as well in high school. Still to this day I have the honor of going to visit my past students/kids and see the change I truly made in those short four years. SEEING the difference I made is what keeps me going each and every day. I wouldn't be anywhere without the love from all my kids!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

One of my most favorite activities is to play 'pretend' either indoors or out. I love giving children the opportunity to dive into their deepest imagination (while keeping it positive of course!). As time goes on, playing outside is becoming less and less appealing to children. I really enjoy creating activities that just involve the children moving their bodies and exploring the gigantic world that is available to us!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The MOST important part about being a nanny is definitely the difference you make in each child and family's life. Your dedicated effort each and every day is what ensures the best growth opportunities! We, as nannies, have the most important job. We are blessed enough to be able to mold the future generation!

My experience with special needs children...

I started caring for special needs children around the age of seven. My mother first started out as a substitute teacher and fell absolutely in love with special needs children of ALL spectrums! I was welcomed daily into her classrooms growing up and gained so many precious memories with each child. I also was able to participate in Special Olympics for around 6-7 years consecutively. One thing I can always say about special needs children is you do not teach them, THEY teach YOU. They gave me every tool I ever needed to become the woman I am today and I know my mother would say the same!

The most important part about being a nanny...

One precious nanny memory I still think about to this day would have to be my first time nannying. I was greeted with an extremely ornery seven month old and told he was very independent. Of course, I made it my mission to create the strongest bond I could with this child. My second day nannying I was greeted in the window by a smiling baby boy with my favorite color on! Every single day after that for four years I was greeted each time with the most loving boy wearing my favorite color. (Of course he'd have to change to Paw Patrol after I noticed Lol!) Still to this day if he knows I am coming, I can expect to be greeted at the window.
