A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Katelyn and I have over 10 years of babysitting/nannying experience and have become best friends with all the littles I have worked with. I’m the eldest sister of 3 younger siblings, two of which are 11 and 15 years younger than me and where my story all begins. Becoming a built in babysitter was the greatest job I never knew I needed. It gave me a true sense of purpose and gave me a glimpse of what life might be like one day. Over the years, friends and family started asking me to also watch their children and often times I would bring my siblings and watch 4 or 5 kids at once. This really encouraged me, so I began advertising myself to friends of friends and finding my own jobs. I babysat for many families regularly and have always been very reliable and responsible. Being a babysitter/nanny is such a rewarding and fulfilling job and I’d love to be part of your story.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked at a Kumon Math & Reading centre for 5 years as my first job. I was front and back of house manager and worked very closely with many children at the same time. I worked with children as young as three, teaching them the alphabet and numbers, and as old 16, teaching advanced university math classes. Many children had physical and learning disabilities that I had to ensure were still being taught in a way they could learn and understand but feel just the same as all the other children.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy any and all activities with kids. I love to spend time outside playing sports or splashing in a pool and I love doing arts and crafts inside when we can’t be outside. I have over 16 years of experience playing the piano (though I’m still not very good), but I can help with music if need be as well.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is that the kids are having fun and the parents can enjoy a worry free night away. I pride myself on being very trustworthy and very honest and want both parents and kiddos to feel comfortable.

My experience with special needs children...

My very first babysitting job, I cared for three young girls (all under the age of 10), and the youngest had PKD which affected her consumption of food. She had very strict dietary restrictions and guidelines that I had to follow. During my time at Kumon, I worked with several severely autistic children and a few with FASD that showed me how extra rewarding it is to teach children with special needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favourite moment, is not so much of a moment, but a miracle for a momma. I love when a mom apologizes desperately as she’s rushing out the door that her baby/toddler doesn’t fall asleep for anyone but her and not to worry if they don’t have a nap, only to be updated by a photo during the mid day nap, that her baby/toddler has fallen asleep in my arms and is happily sleeping in their bed.
