Hi my name is Katelyn. I started babysitting at the age of 12. I have experience babysitting newborns through school age kids. I also have experience watching multiple children at once for a church group. I have formal training in parenting 101, 102 and child development I am pediatric CPR and first aid trained. I know baby ASL and always encourage little ones to use it. I'm always trying to build connection and long lasting relationships with every family. As a nanny I enjoy weekly outings, planned activities, themed days, and lots of crafts. I love providing a safe and fun space for children to explore and be creative. Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing crafts, playing games, dancing singing. I find the best ideas on Pintrest and have the little ones add their own touch. I always incorporate their interests and ideas to keep it engaging and help build self confidence. I love to plan themed days (Space, Safari, Prehistoric, Ocean, etc.) and base the crafts and activities around it (Making astronaut food, building a cardboard space helmet/ spaceship, hiding stuffed animals to create a safari, watching national geographic, learning scientific names, pretending to be the animals, freezing dino toys to make "dino eggs" eating salad to be dino food, making and burying dino bones, ect.) I always make learning fun!

My experience with special needs children...

I spent a lot of time in the special needs room in high school. Since then I have babysat a few special needs kids; they have the purest hearts.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I used to nanny for the most curious 3 year old little boy. One day he started asking about breathing: how and why people do it. I explained "You breathe in oxygen with your mouth or nose to fill up your lungs and then the oxygen goes in your blood where it is carried to your brain and other parts. You breathe out carbon dioxide." Then he asked a magical question, "Where does the oxygen come from?" So I explained, "Trees make oxygen from sun light and the carbon dioxide and that we breathe out, through a process called photosynthesis." Of course the questions continued but, later that day when we were at the park he went around to hug and thank every tree in the park. It was so wholesome. My heart melted.
