Kids have always been apart of my life in someway or another. In my family, I grew up as the older cousin and was often the one "in charge" when the adults weren't around.
When I was old enough, I started to babysit my cousins when aunts and uncles were gone for the day.
I also have two nephews which gave me a great amount of experience with kids. I began caring for them when they were three months old and now they are seven and three.
In 2017, I became a daily caregiver to a family with two year old and four year old. I drove them two and from Pre-K, prepped their meals, helped with school work, and kept them busy with fun activities. I was with that family for two years before both kids entered grade school.
As a college student studying education, I did observation hours in several elementary classrooms and was able to work closely with students. Seeing children make many accomplishments throughout their day was transformative and a big reason why I want to become a teacher.

A reason why I love caregiving for children is because it keeps me young.
With the kids, I love coloring (I have several coloring books of my own), bike riding, going for walks, watching movies, playing cars, Barbie's, or dinosaurs.
Doing these things with children reminds me that there is more to life than the sometimes difficult and overwhelming adult world.
