Hi! My name's Mikayla and I previously worked as an infant teacher for 3+ years. I've helped numerous families over the years with occasional babysitting needs as well. I'm currently a mental health practitioner looking to transition back into childcare. I am CPR and first aid certified for infants, youth and adults. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Throughout my childhood, my Mom was a nanny and I was with her full-time until I was of school age. Even as I started school, I continued to spend time with her nanny families until she switched professions when I was a teenager. I treasure the relationships that were formed between myself and the children my mom nannied for. We still have contact with many to this day! Fast forward a few years to when I graduated from high school, I started working at an early childhood learning center. I was mainly in the infant rooms (6 weeks-16mo), but I also spent some time with toddlers and preschoolers as well. I worked with infants ages 6 weeks-16 months for the next 3 1/2 years. Throughout this time and after, I would frequently care for the children who were at the center outside of work hours. Now, I have experience having had a child of my own! I have an almost 6 month old daughter who is an absolute joy!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I aim to provide ample opportunities for exploration and growth that is appropriate to the child's age group. I enjoy creating fun DIY activities that provide learning opportunities. We will create fun arts and crafts, read lots of books, participate in imaginative play and engage in learning activities that are developmentally appropriate. Another one of my favorite things to do with children is spend time in nature! Whether that be going for a walk, playing outside, going to the park or simply being outside (weather permitting). I find that getting to know the child and learning what brings them the most joy ultimately steers the direction of play we will engage in most!
