"Kayla worked for me intermittently, most summers when my 3 boys were young. She was wonderful keeping them safe and doing activities with them. She also kept the house picked up and cooked occasional evening meals for us to have as a family when asked to do so. She was dependable and trustworthy. If she is your nanny then your kids will be in good hands."

More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I've built my career in childcare. I have both many years of experience working with children, and up to date knowledge regarding childhood development and best support strategies.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love reading books, playing pretend, building with blocks, and doing art alongside little ones. I enjoy playing games, from card games and board games to peekaboo. I enjoy taking walks, and ensuring safety and engagement while children run and climb in backyards or parks. I love swimming and splashing around in the water with little ones. More than anything, I enjoy seeing children light up when they accomplish a goal: whether its the successful stacking of a block, completion of a drawing, winning of board game, or any other task they accomplish during play.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Providing children and families safe reliable care they care trust. Trust is foundational. Without trust saftey and security cannot be reasonably felt, and everything else becomes more difficult.
My experience with special needs children...
I've worked with children with ADHD, ASD, and ODD. I've worked with teens and adults with intellectual disabilities, as well as physical disabilities of a variety of kinds. I have experience administering medications, assisting in hygiene tasks, teaching life skills, and supporting goals of working towards greater independence.
I am skilled in assisting children with emotional regulation. Both in helping them calm down in the moment, and teaching skills that will help them better regulate themselves.
I am familiar with the different sensory needs some children and adults have, and am happy accommodate.

The most important part about being a nanny...
One little boy in my care was struggling with emotional regulation and making kind choices. I had been working with him on ways to work through his anger, breathing techniques, taking space, and physically squeezing hands or plush toys or stomping his feet.
He had just raised his hand to strike another child, and I called his name, and he stopped. I said "[name], I see you are feeling really angry. What can we do about that? Do you want to try squeezing your hands?"
And this child stood there, squeezing his hands into tight fists, staring daggers at me. And I said "Great job buddy. Can we try walking away, maybe stomp your feet?" And his eyes did not leave me and his hands remained fully at his side, tight little fists, as he stomped down the two stairs between us.
And I encouraged him to take deep breaths, and he stood there doing so for several minutes as he slowly untensed and his anger faded. When he was more calm I told him how proud of him I was. I still am.
