The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe the most important part of being a babysitter is creating a safe and comfortable environment where the child feels secure and valued. It’s not just about following instructions or keeping things in order—it’s about being present, patient, and genuinely engaged with the child. Building a connection means taking time to listen, being kind, and showing interest in what they like—whether that’s playing a game, drawing, or just talking about their day. I also think it’s important to be calm and dependable, especially if something unexpected happens. At the same time, I try to make babysitting fun. I want the child to enjoy the time we spend together, not just wait for it to be over. Whether we’re doing crafts, reading, or playing outside, I try to be creative and make the experience a positive one. To me, being a good babysitter is about balancing responsibility with warmth, and doing my best to make the child feel both safe and happy.

One of my favorite moments was during my time as a volunteer helping young children learn to read and write. I worked with a quiet, reserved
boy who had a hard time joining in, and for a while, he didn’t say much at all. One day, after working with him for some time, he read a full word out loud on his own. He looked so surprised and proud— I could tell it was a big moment for him. I felt proud too! Not because I had taught him something, but because he believed in himself. Moments like that remind me why I love spending time with kids. They grow in their own time, and it’s really special to be part of that.
