One night, when I was reading one of my nanny kids a bedtime story, she stopped me and said “Kaylee, you’re so good”. I asked her what she meant, and she said “you’re my favorite grownup because you make me smile and give me so many hugs”. While it was a simple statement, it brought me to tears that night. In her mind, me being “good” was her way of feeling my love for her. I will never forget that interaction, and it was that night I knew I was doing what I was meant for.
