I worked at Highland Recreation Center as a summer camp counselor for 2 years in a row. Sometimes that meant I was responsible for groups of 25 little ones. That is where my passion for childcare truly started! I had experience with children aged 4-12 at that facility.
I have also had student nurse clinical experiences at Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital with children ranging from 6 days to 17 years old.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love being outside, especially if it involves swimming! As a summer camp counselor, I monitored children closely in the water to ensure maximal safety. Other than that, I enjoy taking nature walks or drawing with chalk. I will never say no to a soccer or basketball game either!
When it comes to being inside, I am very fond of doing crafts and reading stories. I love making functional crafts that a child can cherish and feel proud of. In the past I have made jewelry, slime, and a variety of other crafts. I also have experience as a tutor, so I am more than willing to help out with any schoolwork or make learning fun. I would love to read a story and make a craft related to the story. Sometimes, though, we need to be active inside and let out all the sillies - that's where my background in improv comes to play! When we need to let out big emotions or get out some energy, it's fun to pretend to be animals or play a game to get our mind distracted.

I have experience caring for children in the hospital that are more reliant on others for help with bathing, eating, and other activities of daily life.
In summer camp, I have also cared for children on the spectrum and with ADHD. I am understanding and empathetic towards children who view the world differently and willing to make accomodations for them. Sometimes we all need a little extra help to be the very best versions of ourselves!
