More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I currently work at Brook Lane Health Services in MD, at the inpatient facility. I work with children from the ages of 4 to adults of 90. The inpatient facility is a 2 week stabilization program that helps patients in crisis that act dangerous or have impulsive behaviors causing risk for injury, neglect, self-harm, victimization
suicidal or homicidal thinking. This job has provided me with the ability to properly aid children with behavioral issues to find healthier and safer ways to express and cope with their reality. I have also volunteered before at several bible summer camps aiding in arts and crafts, helping them to embrace their creativity. I have worked as a resident assistant in a freshman dorm for a year, creating groups, holding wing meetings and being a mediator for student disagreements.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy helping children with reading, and writing, and helping them with musical instruments, and crafting. Though I am not very good at sports, I enjoy going outside hiking, and will always be there to support children with sports anyway that I can.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Helping children grow, learn, and thrive in any environment, encouraging proper and healthy coping skills to help them become well rounded person. Allowing parents to be the best they can be while also perusing their careers and dreams, by effective communication and collaboration.
My experience with special needs children...
Working at Brook Lane Health Services in MD has provided me with the experience of helping, assisting patients with special needs, while encouraging and helping them to become independent, successful individuals.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Though I have yet to be a nanny, I can share one of my favorite moments as Mental Health Associate. While working with 10 tween patients, it is no surprise that bedtime was a constant. Instead of arguing or engaging in a power struggle, I pulled out one of my favorite books from high school, and asked one of the younger patients if they wanted me to read them a bedtime story, and they did. So as I began reading, I was able to get the attention of several other patients, who rather than continuing to act out became interested in the story. Though I did expect several of the girl patients to come and listen it surprised me to see all of the male patients, who seem to want to be "cool" became attracted to the story as well. Bedtime wasn't an issue, and the patients were excited to have me bring in books so they could read independently. It melted my heart to be reminded of the power of a good story, and the importance of kindness rather than power struggles.
