Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I took care of my nephew for about 4 years, I took him to and from school, stayed with him after school, made sure he did his homework and had him in bed at his set time every night.

I love playing with the kids in my family at holiday events or family gatherings, you’d typically find me on the trampoline, play set or running around the yard with the younger kids, keeping an eye on them to make sure they are safe and treating each other with kindness.

Growing up as a middle child, once my older siblings left home it was my responsibility to look after my younger siblings. So in some ways I’ve been taking care of kids for a very long time, but I also completely understand that taking care of family is not the same as taking care of someone else’s, and each family has a different way of living that fits their lifestyles.

I love playing games with them, if they ask me to play with their toys or engage in their imaginary world I will absolutely do so. I like to think, I was that age once and all I wanted was for a grown up to engage with me, so I try to make it a point to do that so kids know there will always be an adult that cares about their interests.
