I was a teacher assistant at Jefferson elementary for kindergartners, I taught vacation bible school at Trading ford Baptist church, and I was a buddy/volunteer at the special children’s school in Winston Salem nc every other Tuesday this past 24-25 school year.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love helping kids color, cook, and clean. Pretty much everything can be fun and exciting for a kid so making chores or things they don’t like to do into a game or something of the sort is entertaining. I have (not professionally) taught kids how to swim, ride bikes, and use imagination
The most important part about being a nanny...
Safety trust and boundaries. You are responsible for children who are not yours and that’s a very important deal. You are not only caring but helping shaping these children’s lives and you have to make sure you are being an appropriate responsible role model and caretaker.
My experience with special needs children...
In my volunteer experience it was mostly low functioning autism, kids who were nonverbal, behavioral issues, and/or wheelchair bound. I was always just keeping an eye on them or playing with them but as far as meltdowns and things of that nature the staff always handled it
The most important part about being a nanny...
I had two toddler twins recently touch their elf on the shelf, and in order to “save” him we had to sing him Christmas songs 😂❤️.
