A little bit about me

I am a former pre-school (ages infant to pre-k) and elementary school teacher and have 10+ years of combined experience as a nanny for individual families. I have always loved working with children of all ages. I create and provide play-based, developmentally appropriate activities each day, as well as build positive routines for children of all ages.

Additional information:
-Covid safety is very important to me (Fully vaccinated), looking for a family that is also being very safe
-I have two children of my own, ages almost 2 and 5 years—My son will be starting Kindergarten in the fall, but my daughter would be coming along with me, so ideal for someone open to socialization for their little one
-Must be willing to do proper taxes
-My cpr/first aid cert. is expired, but I have done the training many times and an willing to re-certify if desired
-We live in East Lansing, so looking to work in or around the area

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I taught in a daycare setting for 5 years while I was in college for children ages infant to school age. I was also an elementary school teacher for 6 years. I have also been a reading tutoring for school-age students and a summer camp counselor for school-age students. Additionally, I have provided one-on-one support for special needs students in an after school group setting.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I aim to instill an early love of learning by incorporating play-based, developmentally appropriate activities each day for the little ones I care for. This includes reading books, doing art projects, playing in sensory bins, working on fine and gross motor skills, and social-emotional skills. I love spending time outside as much as possible—taking walks or hikes, going to the playground, doing messy projects/sensory bins, visiting a garden.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are several answers to this question, because I believe it is really important work as a whole, but if I were to pick one, it would be providing peace of mind to parents while they have to be away from their children. I want them
to feel at ease as they head to work knowing their children are well taken care of and going to have an enjoyable day.

The most important part about being a nanny...

A favorite nanny moment that quicklg came to mind is when I was working in a nanny share with two little girls that were ~1.5 years old. Their parents had come home and we were discussing the day’s events when their little one came toddling up to me, grabbed my hand to pull me away, and said “my Keddy (Kelly)!”
