A little bit about me

I was born in Chicago and moved to Lake Zurich when I was 4, and now live in Rolling Meadows. I have always had a servants heart for kids! I wanted 6, and was blessed with 2. I was a young mom at 21. My 2 daughters are now 23 and married and 20. Working with kids is something I have been doing since I was 8 when my little sister was born. I was being hired by 12 in the neighborhood. I love the outdoors. Fresh air and kids is the best! I hold memberships at the Chicago Botanical Gardens and the Brookfield Zoo. What I love most about having a membership is the ability to do shorter trips to stay within schedules. You are not rushed trying to see everything at once, which keep kids from burning out.

All in all, I am an easy going mama with a lot of love in my heart for kids! I love to create art, cook, bake, and get piled on by my 3 big dogs!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My God-son. I was there helping my best friend throughout the pregnancy, delivery, and afterwards (emergent c-section). He is now 3 1/2 and the best Lil guy! He loves having sleepovers at "Camp Keki" because we are always doing stufc and having fun!

I have volunteered in the past with VBS (Vacation Bible School).

Babysat through my life since 12 years old.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Indoor activities I love doing with kids is anything hands on. We all learn through touch. So, making art projects, coloring, painting, building are just a few. I also am a huge advocate for having kids help with cooking/baking. I always find they love to eat something they made themselves. It also teaches them life skills at a young age that will carry with them.

Outdoors is one of my happy places! One thing I love are "Treasure Walks". All it takes is a bag! We all walk and the kids pick up rocks, sticks, leaves, ect. Then they get to explore what they found when we get back. Those Treasure Walk finds ofter become art for another day. I also love the water, so swimming, splash pads, and things like that are always a blast in the summer, and building a snowman in the winter is a fun time too!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being a nanny is being able to fit within a family unit with out overstepping boundaries or taking over a parent roll. We live in a time where moms and dad's have to work, but also want the nuclear family. That is where a nanny slides in. They are an intricate part of a family dynamic.

My experience with special needs children...

I have personal experience with children kn the Autism Spectrum. My 20 is Autistic.

I also have a friend with a special needs daughter and babysit her on occasion as well, so mom and dad can remember who they each are!
