More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

When I worked at the Mystic Valley YMCA. I started as a camp counselor when I was 15 years old. This job required group planning, communication, focus, patience, and most of all kindness and ability to understand children and their needs. I just recently ended my work with the YMCA after an amazing 4 years. Over time at the YMCA I went from being a junior counselor to a unit leader in charge of a whole group and the staff that were there to help as well. Before covid the groups of kids were as big as 50 kids per group so this required ample time management and multi tasking. Working at the YMCA has gave me much needed experience and skills that I could put to good use being a nanny! After summer camp ended at the YMCA I continued to work there after school for their SACC program. This meant picking kids up from school on the bus and getting them safely back to my work place and assisting them with homework and coming up with activities for them to do each day.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I absolutely love to do outdoor activities no matter what it is. I love arts and crafts and music which go very well together! I also like to make creative learning environments with small experiments or learning crafts

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny to me would be patience. I have seen a lot of people so quick to get upset with children over small things but we have to understand they are just children so it us important to understand them and listen to them. Get down on their level and see them. Make them feel noticed and included in every way possible.

My experience with special needs children...

When I had a babysitting job around 17 years old the family I worked for had a son with down syndrome along with two other children one being a newborn. They all changed my perspective and taught me so many new things and skills and we all had so much fun together and I still keep in contact with them to this day!
