A little bit about me

Hello everyone! My name is Kelsey, I’m 27 years old. I started babysitting at age nine, caring for family members and children in my neighborhood, which eventually grew into nannying and taking on more responsibilities.

Over the years, I’ve worked with many wonderful families and cared for children of various ages. My experience includes school and activity drop-offs and pickups, outdoor play, walks, arts and crafts, educational games, swimming, and preparing meals. I’m also very flexible during this time of the year.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I really enjoy spending time outdoors and finding fun, engaging activities for children. I love incorporating sports and physical activities into their day, as I was an avid athlete throughout high school and understand the importance of staying active.

I also enjoy playing the games I grew up with as a child, such as manhunt, tag, cats and dogs, and 7 Up. I think these classic games are a great way for children to have fun, use their imagination, and interact with others.

Along with outdoor play, I love doing arts and crafts, creative projects, and educational games. I enjoy finding activities that are both entertaining and meaningful, while helping children learn new skills and explore their creativity. My goal is always to create a fun, positive environment where children feel comfortable being themselves while learning, playing, and having fun.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe one of the most important parts of being a nanny is having the opportunity to be a meaningful part of a child’s life. It’s about helping them learn, grow, and develop while also learning from them along the way. Being a nanny is a great responsibility because you spend a significant amount of time with a child and can have a lasting impact on their development.

While experience and education are important, I believe having a genuine passion for working with children is what truly makes someone a great caregiver. Creating a safe, positive, and nurturing environment where a child feels supported, valued, and encouraged is something I take great pride in.

My experience with special needs children...

One summer, I had the opportunity to volunteer at a camp specifically designed for children with Down syndrome. The camp provided a welcoming and supportive environment where activities were thoughtfully adapted to meet each child’s individual needs, abilities, and comfort level. This experience taught me the importance of patience, understanding, flexibility, and making sure every child feels included and supported.

I genuinely enjoy working with children with special needs and helping them feel confident, comfortable, and valued. Having dyslexia myself, I understand that every child learns and experiences things differently. This personal experience has given me a deeper sense of empathy and patience when working with children who may face learning differences or other challenges. I enjoy finding ways to connect with each child individually and creating activities that allow them to learn, participate, and have fun at their own pace.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments as a nanny was helping a little girl who became frustrated with her homework and called herself “stupid.” I shared my own experience with dyslexia and reminded her that struggling with something doesn’t mean you aren’t smart. Everyone learns differently, and it’s okay to ask for help.

Seeing her mood change and watching her regain her confidence was incredibly rewarding. Moments like this remind me why I love working with children. I truly enjoy helping them feel supported, confident, and comfortable being themselves while they learn, laugh, and simply enjoy being kids.
