Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have worked at 2 different child care centers, where I worked with age groups ranging from infants to elementary school-age kids. I also have volunteered at my local elementary school's field days, which was so much fun. Lastly, I worked at an art studio in downtown St. Johns during the summer as an art camp counselor. All of these experiences were so much fun and helped me gain more knowledge and experience in the general child development field.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Some activities I enjoy doing with children are playing outside, whether it’s at a park or right in the backyard. I also enjoy coming up with new crafts for the children to make. Lastly, I love just playing with the children and letting their imaginations grow.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is making the child/children feel comfortable in my presence. Adding on to that, another piece that is important is keeping the kid(s) active in learning, and always wanting to learn and discover more. Watching children grow and become stronger learners always fills my heart and makes me realize all that I am doing for these kids. Also, my number one goal is to always have the child/children say, “This was the best day ever,” even if it was a chill day at home.
My experience with special needs children...
As the older sister of someone with special needs I say I have experience. I have learned how to calm my sister down in those overstimulating moments, and make everything a positive experience for her. I have also had experience working with special needs children at my previous childcare positions. I would use some of the same calming methods as I would use for my sister.
