More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was an intern for my step-moms group of Kindergarteners for a year and a half. The first year I was tasked with just taking care of 10 of them. I'd teach them lesson plans, take them to each, chaperone activities etc. I also put 60kids (two classes) through a 2 week demo to teach them skills in sports such as soccer or basketball.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Playing Uno, red light green light, simon says, pick up toys game, origami, learning games, if they like a sport then any sport is great, video games if the parents allow it, board games and other fun and simple activities.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Patience. Before I started child care I probably would've said something along the lines of "Parental guidance" or something about kindness but now I know. A lot of the time while being a nanny or babysitter, patience is exactly what's needed. Whether you're waiting for the kids food to be done and they're running around the house yelling that they want to go play, or you're waiting for the kids to fall asleep so you can pick up food from the store. When your kid is crying and won't tell you why, or when they're throwing a tantrum for what seems to be no reason at all, Patience is what's needed. As long as you have patience and knowledge of how to defuse a situation, all that's left is to apply it.
My experience with special needs children...
I've cared for Two children with disabilities. One with sadly more than average restraints; Joubert Syndrome, Autism, sensory integration disorder, Hypotonia, MTS, ataxia, tachypnea and apnea with Sagittal Craniosynostosis. The second was His younger brother; diagnosed with Autism alone.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I took the kids to the park and they saw a group of friends they had from school. They all grouped together and started laughing and conversing it was so heart-filling to see their little relationships and how excited they all were to see each other. I'll always remember the smile I had on my face when they ran up to each other, it made me so happy.
