More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked for Longview Christian School for years and then Alpine Christian Academy for a year. Both schools were school-oriented….getting the children on a set schedule and learning age appropriate things to ready them for school. I’ve raised precious bonus-children before my move to OK. I love/adore all children and am used to multiple children at one time.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
It all depends on the age range of the child and what THEY like to do for fun. I’ll sit on the floor and play barbies or legos, or we can run around outside until the sun goes down. Some prefer to watch tv all day, personally I like to be more engaged and hands on with toys, puzzles, activity books, etc. But whatever the child enjoys doing (that’s been okayed by their parents) is fine by me.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I want the kids to have fun and like spending time with me - while still being within the rules and guidelines of the parents and respecting their wishes. It’s crucial to be reliable to the parents and give them the relief of trusted childcare so they don’t have to stress about it and can have their schedules on track. I also like to make sure we have a consistent schedule so the child feels secure.
My experience with special needs children...
One of the twin babies I watch is special needs. I just follow the directions given by her mother and do the therapy needed and help meet with the doctors. Also one of the children at the schools I worked for had special needs as well and we just did a lot of 1 on 1 with him vs him having to stay with all the other kids where he was overstimulated and couldn’t learn much from that environment. He did much better with sensory activities and personal time vs group projects.
The most important part about being a nanny...
A funny moment I can recall is when this little boy I babysat wanted to make grape juice. It sounded harmless (maybe a little messy). Well. His version of doing so was microwaving grapes...in a blender. I was MORTIFIED. I have to give it to him - he was creative. Needless to say, we didn’t make any grape juice. A little disclaimer - his parents keep the blender in bottom unlocked cabinets within his reach and allow him to use the microwave anytime he wants SOOO I had no idea of his little schemes. I quickly gave him a little microwave education 101 about why we can’t microwave grapes (they’re flammable in there for some reason) or blenders (that ones pretty self explanatory).

I am a professional nanny, with 18 years experience. I have worked as a preschool teacher for the military as well as being a professional nanny and household liaison.
I love children and believe they learn best when allowed to engage their senses and explore this big impressive world.
I have had the opportunity to take care newborns, (Including twins.) all the way up to ten years of age.
Working for the military has allowed me to live in South Korea and Japan. I believe learning about other cultures is very important for children.
