More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I taught for over 5 years at the Round Lake Area Park District Children Development Center. I was lucky enough to work as a lead teacher, summer camp counselor, inclusive aide and had the pleasure of nannying for many of the families I got to meet at work! My working rate is negotiable and I’m down to work with any age group and I’m always always open to working with kids with behavioral or learning disorders. It is my greatest passion in life working with kids and although I’ve been told by families I go above and beyond to teach them and provide the best experience ever, the kids have always given me so much more back by letting me a part of their most precious, formative years❤️ I’m very good with animals if that’s something that needs tending to and I don’t mind housework, cooking, potty training, etc! If you have ANY questions don’t hesitate to ask! I have open availability and am new to the area (St. Charles) and I look forward to meeting some new amazing parents and kids soon❤️

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Inside- I love doing anything to help with improving their fine motor skills, I’m a writer and love arts and crafts so I love exploring their creative and artistic potential, as well as getting them started early with reading and writing skills that will benefit them in later schooling/ life in general. I am really into nature and large motor activities as well, biking, sports, gardening, swimming, scavenger hunts, etc. I’ve even taught yoga to toddlers before. (Yes, it’s as adorable and silly looking as you are most likely imagining.) I have a lot of interesting games and activities I’ve learned through training to keep them from being bored or glued to a television or phone screen, as well as know some great educational programs for both forms of media if that’s more their speed. I’m down for anything honestly as long as they’re being safe and enjoying themselves while learning❤️

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important thing about being a nanny is providing them the best experience every time I see them and warmness and keeping them safe so their parents do not have to worry if they’re away, that they feel comfortable with me and know their taken care of and be given 100% of my attention and effort every single time I get to spend time with them!

My experience with special needs children...

I started as an inclusive aide and was always the go to teacher if kids needed special accommodations so I will always have a soft spot in my heart for all the work I’ve done with them. I’m very patient and compassionate and have been very lucky to save some kids from being kicked out of the center by knowing and sensing when it’s time to keep them in a group setting and when they need more one on one assistance/ accommodations. I love teaching them how to speak and express themselves through words and to help keep them on track with the other kids without pressuring them and allowing them to learn at their own speed. The first child I worked with had extreme trauma from her birth mother not taking care of her and luckily she got fostered by two amazing people and through working with her, was bittersweet seeing her go from really needing help every step of the way to being completely self sufficient and not needing me anymore. I have nanny experience with kids on the spectrum as well!

The most important part about being a nanny...

One time I was nannying a little boy because their parents were giving birth to their baby brother and he was so excited to see me outside of work, he kept offering things to accommodate me throughout the day. Always loved him because he was wise beyond his years but still at the same level as ever other kid I’d known as wanting to have fun. At one point, he showed me his entire collection of Shakespeare’s work (he’d studied and understood all of it despite literally being 4 years old and said to me “I’d offer to read to you these books but they’re a bit repetitive and boring” 🤣
