More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I previously owned and operated a childcare program caring for newborns, infants, toddlers, and young children through age four. I provided hands-on daily care, early learning activities, themed lessons, meals, developmental play, and nurturing routines. I also currently volunteer with a community program supporting children and families. In addition to my professional and volunteer experience, I bring 28 years of hands-on parenting experience as a mother. These experiences have strengthened my patience, understanding of child development, and ability to provide consistent, nurturing, and attentive care.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love creating fun, hands-on learning experiences through music, movement, and play. While operating my childcare program, I planned monthly learning themes such as under-the-sea, animals, seasons, storybook themes, and more. I enjoy bringing stories like There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly to life through crafts, music, sequencing, counting, and interactive play. I also enjoy child-friendly instruments, sensory activities, early learning games, arts and crafts, and simple gardening projects where children can plant flowers, herbs, or vegetables and watch them grow. I have educational materials and activity resources from my childcare program that I can incorporate into age-appropriate activities with the family’s approval.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is building a safe, loving, and trusting relationship with each child while supporting their individual needs and development. I believe childcare is more than supervision—it’s teaching, encouraging, listening, comforting, playing, and helping children discover the world around them. I want children to feel safe, valued, understood, and excited to learn while in my care. I also believe in building a strong relationship with parents so we can work together to provide consistency and the best possible care for their child. Becoming a trusted part of a family and creating a second family connection outside of my own would be one of the most meaningful parts of being a nanny.
My experience with special needs children...
My direct experience includes caring for one child on the autism spectrum while operating my childcare program. I learned to recognize the child’s individual needs, respond calmly and patiently, provide reassurance, and adjust activities and routines when needed. While my hands-on experience with children with special needs is limited, I am currently studying Special Education as part of my education, which is helping me further develop my understanding of supporting children with different developmental and learning needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite childcare memories was celebrating Thanksgiving with the children in my childcare program. The children helped mix cake batter, make cookies, and create candy necklaces. Even the little ones were included in the fun with music, movement, and dancing. I especially loved watching the infants smile and rock back and forth to the music. Seeing children of different ages participate, laugh, learn, and enjoy something we created together is one of the reasons I love working with children.
