My experience with special needs children...

In 2021, I worked as a paraprofessional at Wellington Landings Middle School. I worked one-on-one with a 12-year-old named Veronica. Veronica has Down syndrome and is nonverbal. Veronica attended class just like everyone else. My job as her assistant means I had to prepare her food, attend class with her to help her do her class work, change her diaper, and make sure she wasn’t doing anything to harm herself or any of the other students around her.
