I believe the most important part of being a nanny is creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where children feel cared for while also being a reliable source of support for parents. A nanny is not only there to engage with and care for the child, but also to help make parents’ lives a little easier by providing dependable care, open communication, and reassurance that their child is in good hands.
My experience with special needs children...
I do not have direct experience working with children with special needs; however, I do have related caregiving experience. I worked as a Certified Medication Technician supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, where I gained experience providing compassionate care, assisting with daily needs, following care plans, and creating a safe and supportive environment. I believe these skills have helped me develop patience, attentiveness, and adaptability, which are important when caring for children with different needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One memorable moment was helping a child create a small art project and watching how excited they became while sharing the story behind their creation. Seeing their confidence grow as they expressed their imagination reminded me how meaningful it is to encourage children and celebrate their little moments.
