More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I used to nanny for a family with two kids as well as two dogs for a little over a year. In addition, I nannied a 10 month old girl for several months before I eventually transitioned to a position with a 1 year old and 2 year old child. I have also babysat for several other families with preschool to elementary aged children and helped out with childcare through my church.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny to me is adding positive experiences to the child's life and knowing that by coming into their life you make an impact. Children are always watching and learning from those around them and as a caretaker you become a role model for them because children don't just learn from the words you say to them but how you act towards them and around them.

My experience with special needs children...

I cared for a young boy with down syndrome for a little over a year before he started school for the first time. I spent around 7 to 8 hours a day several times a week with him working on improving fine motor skills, audible speech (to start with we mostly communicated through ASL), as well as playing with tactile toys and having lots of fun face to face as opposed to ample time on IPads or watching television at request of his parents.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I would have to say my favorite moment as a nanny is when the boy I was caring for who was around three years old and dealt with speech difficulties started beaming at me one morning and showed me that he had learned my name and started to call me "Zee."
