A little bit about me

My name is Kiyanna, and I have been nannying for about eight years. During my experience, I have also graduated from BSU with a Bachelor’s degree of Science with a major in Psychology as well as a minor in Human Services. I have taken time off from nannying, and I’ve decided to try working in a more formal atmosphere. As a result, I am a full time case worker for Monroe County during the day, Monday - Friday from 9am - 5pm.

During my nannying experience, I generally specialized in providing care for primary school-aged children and toddlers. My day-to-day tasks consisted of: assisting with school work, preparing healthy meals, encouraging physical activities as opposed to screen time, and engaging in crafting activities.

My experience with special needs children...

I have had plenty of experience dealing with children with special needs. I have nannied for children with ADHD, Autism, and OCD. I understand that it is imperative that children with special needs be under the care of someone who is kind, patient, and understanding. I typically like to plan activities specifically related to their needs as it allows room for growth on both ends.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Although I have so many favorable moments, I would have to say that my absolute favorite moment was when the children of the Powers family and I created valentines day cards for every home on their street. The children came up with the idea after I taught them about feelings and general emotions. They expressed that they wanted everyone on their street to feel “happy and loved.” We rolled their wagon around the neighborhood, and we left a hand-made valentines day card in each mailbox . It was really rewarding knowing that the kids took in every bit of my lesson , and they were able to utilize it to create a wonderful idea.
