Likened to Mary Poppins, firm but kind, I always have my bag with books, games and activities. My heart’s joy has been taking care of children (of all ages), in various capacities; including in the public, private, and home-school environment, and for extended care. Making ordinary, everyday things extraordinary is my specialty. Children are a blessing to be nurtured with genuine love, kindness, instruction, and fun! Cultivating experiences to promote discovery can be as simple as a cardboard box with a wooden spoon, a paint brush and water, or a cup and some dirt. More About Me

I’ve been in childcare for over 30 years. I have worked in public and private schools, as well as in the homeschool environment.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy alternating activities between constructed table time (games, coloring, Play Doh, puzzles, etc.), free/independent play, and physical activity (playing outside, sand/water play, riding bikes, going for a walk, hide-n-seek, etc.). I am definitely a clean up as we go nanny. It’s easier to clean up a small mess. Plus, you cannot enjoy and play the game next time if half of the pieces are missing. Outings and play dates are fun and special, not a daily occurrence. I’m very supportive of a close knit family engaging in and appreciating the simple, everyday things in life. We need to do dishes, food prep, and laundry. Children enjoy learning and helping with these everyday things too.

The most important part about being a nanny...

In the physical absence of Mom and Dad, the most important part about being a nanny for me is to be completely dedicated to the safety and well being of the children with my utmost of care, kindness, and love. Having fun along the way is the frosting on the cake: which is everyone’s favorite part!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I absolutely love reading to and talking to children. They say amazing things, “Vroom — bam! They crashed because he was talking on the phone”, and ask interesting questions, “Why did they hurt Jesus”? I use dramatic play in many ways: to entertain children; to help them learn; to show them how to do something; and enable them to discover and accomplish something new. We have fun with sign language, with learning how to pillow fight, build forts, bake cakes, and make cards to celebrate their growth, or share their love with family, friends, and/or neighbors. Zoo days have always been a favorite, but we do not have that here in Lake Havasu. Special memories also include field trips and birthday parties!!! From chalk murals, decorating, assisting with games, taking photos, and serving cake, it’s a joy to be included and to participate in their celebrations.
