A little bit about me

Hi, I'm Kya!
Born and raised in Boston, I have over 10 years of experience working with youth in a school setting and more than 3 years of nannying. While I've transitioned to full-time floral design, my love for working with children has remained a constant passion. Now, I’m looking to return to nannying on a more personal scale, where I can make a meaningful impact in the lives of your children.

I bring a wealth of experience in managing daily routines, from cooking and cleaning to pick-ups and drop-offs. I also love organizing after-school activities, helping with homework, and ensuring bedtime routines run smoothly. My background in education has given me strong organizational and communication skills, allowing me to create a supportive, nurturing environment for children of all ages.

I'm excited to start this new chapter and would love the opportunity to connect with your family to provide the care and support your children deserve. I look forward to helping your family thrive!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have over 10 years of experience working with children in a variety of roles, including a teacher’s assistant in an after-school program, a youth worker, a nanny, and most recently, a Middle School Culture Coordinator. Throughout these roles, I’ve gained invaluable skills in supporting children’s emotional, social, and academic development.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Indoor: Arts and Crafts, Cooking/Baking,
Reading, Board Games and Puzzles.

Outdoor: Nature Walks and Scavenger Hunts, Sports, Gardening, Bike Riding, Picnics.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is building a trusting, supportive, and nurturing relationship with the children and their families. It's not just about providing care—it's about being a consistent, positive presence in their lives. As a nanny, you have the privilege of helping children grow, learn, and navigate new experiences in a safe and encouraging environment.

For me, being a nanny means creating a space where children feel comfortable, respected, and empowered. It’s about truly understanding each child’s unique needs, interests, and personality, and adjusting my approach to help them thrive.

My experience with special needs children...

Throughout my career in educational settings, I’ve had the privilege of working with children with a range of special needs. While I’ve primarily supported students in a school environment, these experiences have greatly shaped my ability to provide individualized care and attention to children of all abilities.

I've worked closely with students requiring additional support, including those with learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, and emotional needs. I collaborated with special education teachers, therapists, and parents to implement tailored strategies to help students succeed both academically and socially. Whether it was adapting classroom activities or providing one-on-one assistance, I made sure to create an inclusive environment where each child felt valued and supported.

In addition, I have experience in behavioral management, assisting children in developing coping strategies and guiding them through challenging moments while fostering a positive atmosphere.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments as a nanny was when I helped a child I was caring for work through a big challenge. She was struggling with reading and often felt frustrated and discouraged. One afternoon, we sat down together with a stack of her favorite picture books, and instead of focusing solely on getting through the pages, we made a game out of it—acting out the characters, making funny voices, and turning every sentence into a little adventure.

That day, she started to smile and really get into the story. By the end of our reading session, not only had she made incredible progress in her reading, but her confidence had skyrocketed. It was a breakthrough moment—not just for her reading skills, but for her belief in herself.
