Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I honestly love painting, or coloring and drawing. Taking them to museums, parks, pools. I’m down to take them for fun days, or stay around the house. Dance parties to movie nights or just reading under the covers I’m happy to do it all. I LOVE board games, but don’t expect me to take it easy on them…. Haha.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is being a safe space for the kids. Not just being someone who bosses them around, or just a fun person but, someone who is genuinely there for them. Becoming someone who is almost family. Not just a job. But a very important part is also respecting the parents boundaries and wishes. And communication is key!!!
My experience with special needs children...
I have had little experience with special needs, but I have been around and helped care for them on occasion with family friends. I briefly volunteered at out of the box. I have also volunteered at the Special Olympics. I am seeking a degree that will involve children with special needs. I want to go for occupational therapy in the long run.
The most important part about being a nanny...
There was one day that my family was going out to look for shark teeth. And I brought the toddler that I was taking care of at the time along with me. We had so much fun that day. Everyone wanted to play with her and then we went for ice cream and we shared one and she told me that I was her favorite and that she loved me. I cherish that moment deeply. My second favorite moment was when I was putting her down for a nap, I was singing to her and she started singing along as she slowly drifted off to sleep.
