A little bit about me

Hello, my name is laelah. I have always done really good with children. I did a volunteer program called GoEco and i volunteered for a month in a daycare in South Africa . So our schedule contained me waking up early to make breakfast, playtime, make and serve lunch, we would normally read a book and learn numbers and letters. Same thing with dinner. After dinner they are bathed and put to bed. The kids i worked with age ranged from 2 months to 5 years old. I had never felt a sense of purpose so strong than i did when i was in South Africa. The daycare i was brought up in, as soon as i was old enough (12-13) i started working there and those kids ranged from 1 month to 9 years old and the total of the number of children would be 16. I had never been happier. Please don’t let my lack of experience speak louder than the love i have for children.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I did volunteer work in South Africa to work in their daycare centers. There were 5 kids age ranging from 2 months to 4 years old. I would wake up early to make breakfast and go wake up the kids. We eat then go outside play with the toy cars, trampolines and a sand pit. I go make lunch and sit all the kids down and we talk about what we want to do for the day. We read books, count random objects, play in the water ect. After we lay all the kids down for their nap, i go make their snacks. After nap time we pretty much come up with our own games and fun. Same routine for dinner. After they are all bathed and put to sleep and then i repeat everything the next day. I originally was only going to stay for 3 weeks but it was too hard to leave them so i extend my trip 1 more week.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Puzzles, coloring, taking walks, making DIY projects to help with kids motor skills. I love watching movies, teaching them how to cook/bake, learn about shapes and colors. I love anything that the kids get to engage in, something that is useful in the long run.

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me the most important job is making sure your child is comfortable with whoever the nanny is. Kids are very intuitive, when words are hard their body language speaks for them. The most important part is making sure the children think of their nanny has a safe place, not something to run away from.
