Hello, My name is La'Shanda Thomas, but my little ones call me Coco. I am a wife, mother of 4 and grandmother of 7. My career has been in housekeeping and janitorial services in the refinery. Since my contract ended in March of 2023, I have decided to change my career status to more meaningful venue in caring for children. My grandchildren live out of town and I have so much love to share and I want to share that with families that would welcome me and my care with their families as well.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My only experience is being a mother of four, and now a grandmother of ten beautiful grandchildren. I am the Auntie that the nieces and nephews love to be around, because in their words, Auntie/ Coco is alright. I am 55 years old and a divorced woman. My children are all gone and my last two, twin boys are home with me only on the weekend. I have time and there is no rush in my steps so to love and care for children has always been something that’s natural for me. So this is where I am with experience.

I like reading, coloring, painting, singing, outdoor games, movies, tea parties and forts.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is everything. Taking care of the children, loving them, showing how special and in my heart they will be. I would treat your children as if they were my own. Love and protect them. To see them smile when they see me coming or crying like a lonely cowboy/girl hate to see me walk away at the end of the day, that’s when you know it’s real.

My experience with special needs children...

I have not had many experiences with special needs children. I have shadowed instructors, but never personally had to care for any children with special needs. I have family and a few friends whose children are, everyday is not always smooth, they cope and I have seen it first hand few times. The responsibility can be overwhelming but with caring loved ones, nothing is impossible.
