A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Laura Johnson. I currently live in Tolleson, AZ. I was born in Texas but have lived in AZ for quite awhile now. I worked as a lash tech for the past years as well as would nanny a newborn to now 7 mo old baby girl for someone whom I eventually became very close with. I have 11 wk old baby myself and have been loving motherhood! It’s come natural to me because of my previous experience with infants. I love working with children and notice I’m a kid magnet. I grew up with special needs siblings so I have always had an understanding and soft spot for children with special needs. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve cared for children from different age ranges from infants to teenagers. I’ve watched a baby when he was 3 months old to around 1yo and also sat with teenagers who just needed someone there at the house while their parents were away. I tutor a 5 yo child with autism as well as have a baby of my own. I believe in gentle parenting and redirecting. I have worked at a daycare called Appletree and helped teachers in different classrooms as a floater for about ~6 months. I enjoy working with children and I believe I have the patience to guide them.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Going to the park or splash pads! I like going on walks or trips to the store. I enjoy sensory activities or researching any new activities to try out as well as educational.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a caretaker is patience. Every child is different from the next and has a different perspective of the world, has their own pace and path in life. I’m just here to guide, help them grow, and show them love/kindness so that they could grow up to be loving, smart, and kind adults.

My experience with special needs children...

I have 2 brothers with specials needs that I’ve grown to adapt to and have a compassionate understanding for. I also tutor a 5yo little boy with autism and absolutely adore him. Our tutoring sessions consists of play and learn activities or just letting him be comfortable and chill.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment is when your kids tell you that they love you or like you at the most random times! I’ve had a few moments where I’m just doing a normal everyday thing and the baby I’m sitting just leans in for a close hug or the special needs child I tutor plays with my hair or shouts my name and comes running to the door when he sees me.
