More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I helped raise my little sister (who had a learning disability) starting at birth. I have 2 amazing sons (8 and 12), I have 2 nephews (9 and 11) who have always been an active part of my life. My 11 year old nephew has autism. I volunteered in church childcare for about 4 years, taking care of children anywhere from birth - kindergarten, and after about 6 months was given a paid position. I worked as a substitute at my son's Mother's Day Out for 2 years. I was a substitute at Academics Plus Maumelle Charter School for 1 year. I was a stay at home mom for over 10 years, so I was absolutely everyone's babysitter! I was the nanny for a little boy for about 6 months starting when he was 2 months old. At a different point, I was the nanny for a 3 - 3 1/2 year old for about 4-5 months. Both only ended because they decided to put the boys in daycare closer to their homes. I was also a Pre-K4 teacher for a little while.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Every kid is different and enjoys different activities and need different levels of care and attention from their caregiver(s). After taking care of so many kids over the years, I am very versatile in a wide variety of activities for children of all ages and interests.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think some of the most important things about being a nanny are (1) that the children always feel just as safe and loved as they do when their parents are with them. They should never be uncomfortable with anyone who is supposed to be caring for them. All effort should be made to ensure, not just their physical well-being, but their mental well-being. (2) The nanny must be a united front with the parents on the rules/expectations set in place. The nanny is the adult first and foremost, and can be the friend second. Kids must have maintained structure from all areas of their life and all adults put in their lives as leaders, mentors, caretakers, whatever role they hold - they must all be a united front.
My experience with special needs children...
I helped raise my little sister who had a learning disability, including helping her with all of homework and everything from the time she started school all the way through college. Her now 11 year old son has autism and I have been very involved in his life since the moment I saw him come into this world.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite things to do with my little sister while raising her was to study for tests while we baked cookies together. Since she didn't have to read or write anything, she would get a little ADHD on me and start getting fidgety, but when we made cookies she was focusing her eyes and hands on the cookies and her mind on the educational material. It also made it a much, much less tedious and painful experience for both of us with less frustration and her deciding she was bored.

Full-Time Nanny Available in Little Rock, AR: Paula W.
It was many years ago but I’ve been a nanny for premature triplets and a five year old. I also worked at a daycare center during the day and taught gymnastics at night. My husband was transferred to another state their I worked as a nanny for two families, the families were both in the medical field working different shifts I would rotate between families. Once again my husband was transferred to Little Rock, Ar we have lived here for over 30 years. During these 30 years I’ve worked as a CEO at a small credit union. We have two sons a 20 year old who is currently attending college and another son who is 23 years old attending college and working for LRPD. My husband and I are now empty nesters and I have left my job at the credit union. I would love to go back to being a nanny. I have so many good memories, this just seems like a perfect time to do what I enjoy.
