A little bit about me

Hey there, I’m Lauren, or Lo, whichever is easier for the kiddos and family to remember! I just moved back to Fort Myers where I was born and raised! I have work experience with nannying for families with kids ages 2-11 years old, and I’ve worked at elementary and middle schools working with kids with special needs and general education kids. I also worked a summer camp at a daycare while in college, so I’ve worked with a variety of types of kids in a variety of environments! I’m looking for a part time position that is available ASAP (preferably evenings or weekends) . I’m CPR certified. I love to play with the kids and allow them to tap into their creativity while providing a nurturing and safe environment for them to learn and grow!
When I’m not working, some of the things I enjoy are being active and creative! I love being outdoors at a pool or beach as well as walking in parks and taking my dog to a dog park! I love to dance and play sports and I also enjoy coloring and painting!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a summer camp counselor at a daycare one summer while in college. Post college, I have 2 years of education experience with both general education kids and special education kids. I have also nannied before for 3 different families that were all part time positions. I’ve worked with kids of all types of ages and interests.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to have fun with the kids by having them participate in activities that are age appropriate for them, but also fit their interests! I’ve worked with kids who are very creative and enjoy dress up/imagination indoor games and with kids who love to ride bikes or go for walks and be outside. I enjoy going to playgrounds, creative fun places for the kids to experience, and also helping the kids develop some social skills as that is a skill I feel many kids lack in today’s society.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are many important parts of being a nanny but I think the most important is that the family (parents and kids) mesh well with the nanny so that we are all collectively a team providing the best care and consistent expectations and experiences for the kids.

As someone who grew up in constant chaos I’m a huge advocate for the importance of consistency and communication to make sure everyone knows what’s going on to the best of their ability. I also believe it makes the kids life a lot more calm and fun when they see adults working together and loving them rather than working against each other and consuming chaos. The world is crazy enough, the home should be a place where the kids feel safe and comfortable to be their most authentic selves.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with kids with severe autism, verbal and non verbal. I have also worked with kids with Down syndrome.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have had many beautiful moments with kids I’ve worked with, but I think one of my favorite moments was when I took 2 sisters that I nannied to their swim lessons. After the lesson I was brushing one of the girls hair and she asked me “when you’re done with my hair, can we take a family photo?” Almost immediately her little sister smiled and said “Lo let’s take a family picture!” It meant so much to me and melted my heart that they considered me part of their family!
