A little bit about me

Hi there!
My name is Lauren and I am 27 years old. I’ve spent the majority of my life working with children.
I grew up with 3 younger siblings who kept me busy and well-educated, but also have experience with nannying other children, mostly ages 0-8yo, but am good with all ages.

I then went on to work with babies and toddlers, and then as the Children’s Music Coordinator/Director’s Assistant for a church for several years, working with children ages 4-11.

I was also an education major for a short time, and was a preschool teacher for nearly a year before accepting a position with Walt Disney World.

I am currently looking for something alongside my full time serving job, so flexible schedule is needed. I have part time availability as well as occasional babysitting. Solid and clear communication is all I ask for!

These details are spread throughout my bio. I also did theatre for a long time and worked with young kids who wanted to express themselves through the arts!! It was a great bonding opportunity!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love movie nights, playing games, going to parks or children’s museums, and I especially love going to theme parks. I am the Walt Disney World guru, so if you want someone who’s comfortable enough to take your kids to Disney, I promise I am your person!!! :)

The most important part about being a nanny...

I don’t take the responsibility of caring for the lives of anyone, not just children, lightly.
I’ve worked as an HR coordinator for a Home Health Agency, with the job to hire the right care providers to go into our client’s homes, and teaching an orientation every week before they do so. I was very picky with the people I hired, with the philosophy that you cannot care for anyone without 3 things: 1. A heart— a passion for what you do, for other people. 2. Perspective. The perspective that you could be the one needing help someday, or your parent, or your child— who’s hands do you want to place their lives in? And 3. Communication. I always say “there’s no such thing as over-communication.” We’re humans! Let’s make our needs known so we can take care of each other in the capacity that we need the most.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience with children who have anger management issues, social anxiety, anxiety and depression, autism, and general companionship care for children who have more serious needs such as trach care (I am NOT experienced or trained on trach care, just worked as a companion for a child who had one).

The most important part about being a nanny...

I don’t have one particular moment that is a favorite. But all of my favorite and most precious memories include lots of laughter, lots of “I love you”s, and maybe especially bedtime snuggles, particularly rocking the little babes to sleep. The youngest of 3 siblings I watched was about 6 months old and hated going to sleep. So I got a lot of extra bonding time with him as he giggled his way back to sleep while I sang to him and rubbed his belly. I will never forget those days. He’s grown up so much since then! I hold onto every moment and do my best to make the most of the time I’m given with my kiddos.
