A little bit about me

Hi my name is Lauren, I have been a sitter for about 4 years. As a child I have always been around children all my life and being the only girl in the household made me do everything. So taking care of children or adults it’s not a problem for me. In those years of me being a sitter I was also a tutor for little children to 14 year olds. I am currently in college at Keiser University for nursing. (don’t worry my classes are online:)

I believe that people should spend more time understanding children because they have a different aspect of life and this whole bunch of joy and innocence that I think no one will understand. And as for a child their intelligence is phenomenal. when I spend time with children it brings me joy and excitement because I get to share my goofy side with them.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to read! I am a book nerd, and I love to read books that have really cool images or crazy endings. Puzzles, board games. Hide n go seek

The most important part about being a nanny...

Making sure that the children are safe, happy and having a good time. Building a connection that helps me the better understand them. And knowing that even if I’m not there, but they will have a beautiful, big smile.

My experience with special needs children...

Kaden was a child who had autism and it was really hard for him to fully express his words on how he feels so in between our sessions I would comfort him by asking him if it’s OK to give him a hug or when he wants to be held, he asks me. Whenever he would struggle or get frustrated over some words that he can’t pronounce a pick up his hand and rub it rub his back and let him know that everything’s gonna be OK and that you always have to take things one step at a time. Kayden knew that he was different from other kids, but I always reminded him that should never stop him. Towards the end of the summer when I was tutoring Kayden, he proved to everybody that he is a smart kid by graduating top of his third grade class and improving more on his social skills. Trust me when I say that there were a few bumps in the road but without the hardship, Kayden wouldn’t reach to his full potential as he thought he would.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Every day when I dropped off Lily to her daily activities, like gymnastics or ballet I would always tell her have a great day or just positive affirmations and one day we had a private chat and she said it to me that there are times when she has to go to the building and she’s very nervous but my hugs and positive affirmations that I give her before she leaves makes her smile. It was surprising kind of when she told me that because most nine-year-olds Don’t tell you how they feel but knowing that what I do makes Lillys day better brings me joy. We both cried lol.
