I worked as a behavioral therapist for a little over 6 years. I was so sad to leave that job and those kiddos! I worked with individuals that had Autism spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD, and other developmental delays. The youngest kiddo I worked with was 5 and the oldest was 36. Depending on the person would dictate the level of support provided. Many had limited language or were even nonverbal. Some needed bathroom support and/or help completing daily activities. Working with this population allowed me to form special bonds not only with the kids, but with their families.
