A little bit about me

My name is Lauren, and I have dedicated over 20 years to the childcare field, including the past two years working as a nanny for infants and toddlers. I live in Arvada, but willing to travel anywhere in the Denver metro area.

I recently completed my Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) training through Newborn Care Training Academy and am currently seeking opportunities to gain additional hands-on experience with newborns.

That being said, I am passionate about working with all ages. I have a very flexible schedule and I am ideally looking to make connections as a backup caregiver. I am open to daytime care as well as over night care.

A note about me is that I do not own a car. It does not affect my ability to get to and from a workplace, however. I made a choice as an adult to not own a vehicle and rely on public transportation.

I worked as an early childhood teacher for about 16 years, and then became a director/educational coach and did that for over 4 years. I have been a nanny for a little over a year.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to read stories and listen to music/sing. I am a very passionate about music and art. I also value getting to know the individual child and what their needs, preferences and interests are as that will have a huge influence on what kind of activities I am doing with a child.

Building a relationship with the child and the parents. Authenticity and communication.

My experience with special needs children...

I have about 8 years working with children who have special needs. I worked in a preschool program that was in an elementary school where almost half the students were on an IEP. I worked closely with speech language pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, and other professionals in the early special education field.
