A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Layla and I will be starting my junior year at CU Boulder this fall! I am studying ecology, and absolutely love science and nature. I hope to one day work in the National Parks. I also love reading, writing, art, and, most importantly, kids! I grew up with two siblings, and was the second oldest of many, many cousins in my very large family. I've grown up playing with them, taking care of them, babysitting them, and more. Whether they were infants, toddlers, kids, or teens, I helped out and loved being with them (I'd like to say they liked me too)! I am also a registered substitute teacher and teacher's assistant, have years of experience working with kids in educational settings, and years of teacher training. I've also occasionally worked with special needs kids of all ages. I have thousands of hours of volunteer work as well, many to do with women's and children's charities, and have volunteered as a children's camp counselor countless times.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am a registered substitute teacher and teacher's assistant in the state of Florida, which has allowed me to work hands-on with kids of all ages. I was also an active volunteer with Girl Scouts and would quite often help out at events, meetings, and camps. I would teach and instruct the girls, make sure all was in order and that they were safe, play with them, and more. I did the same with many of the children in my family. I have amassed thousands of volunteer hours, many helping out with women's and children's charities, often times helping in women's shelters, at which were many children as well. I have experience with infants, toddlers, children, pre-teens, and teens.
