A little bit about me

Hi there!
My name is Lea (like Leah).

I'm a Christian and my values and convictions will certainly influence how I plan to help raise your children alongside you. To me, practically this means setting high expectations of how to behave and interact with others, and yet providing so much grace, love, and mercy when they inevitably fall short of those expectations. Each child is so unique in the guidance, support & care they’ll require but I’ll always aim for gentle, loving, and yet firm, clear guidance (correction when necessary) to help them navigate life's inevitable challenges. Unless you request otherwise, I plan to pray with and over them, teach them biblical stories and values, attempt to protect their innocence and help you guide them along the best path. However, you as the parent have the greatest influence on your child’s upbringing, faith and worldview and I will honor and respect your wishes in however you wish to raise them and I will follow your lead.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I first began nannying a few years back (2018) when I moved to Colorado to help care for my dad's stepbrother's family (at the time, their 2 and 4 year old daughters) after he was in an accident. It was truly mutually beneficial in a transitional period of my life and just as much of a blessing for me as it was for them. It unexpectedly started my journey into nannying and I have grown to find so much fulfillment in a calling that I never saw coming.

Once their situation stabilized, I was recruited by another family in the area where mom and dad were both pilots, and needed a live-in nanny for their 3, 6, and 8 year old girls. I cared for them until their youngest was in kindergarten.

Since then, I have cared for twin, 8 year old girls, another family with a newborn and a 3 year old boy, and yet another family with twin newborns and a toddler (mom has her hands FULL there).

I love them all so so much.

I've also been a diving coach for ~7 years, working mostly with kids aged 5-18.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

SO many options for each life stage. Newborns and toddlers are just the best, but it's also nice to hang with kids who have developed a little more independence, and unique individuality so I can cater our activities to their gifts and interests, and encourage them in what may be difficult.

Play time outside is great: walks, parks, playgrounds, biking, riding scooters, and rollerblading. Bible lesson/story time, reading, writing, art, music, crafts, legos, blocks, pretend play, projects, science experiments, games, lemonade stands, puzzles, and all age appropriate learning - from counting to calculus (not a huge calculus fan but either I’m long out of a job by then or your child’s a genius, in which case they’re likely able to teach themselves…), depending on the age, nap time is a necessity (appropriately listed after calculus) - in that time I plan to accomplish various household tasks… the list goes on. If you have ideas, I’ll implement, supervise, teach and guide.

The most important part about being a nanny...

That’s a hard one… because for me, this isn’t just a job, it’s having the opportunity to invest in the next generation… it’s serving both you as parents and your children well, both now and in the future, setting them up for success, prosperity and a beautiful life to the best of my ability.

Loving these kids, encouraging them to love each other, and leading by example is maybe one of the best things I can offer your family. Giving you a peace of mind that each child is so uniquely loved, cared for, nurtured, protected, well fed, well taught and well looked after is what I strive for. I welcome feedback, correction, instruction, and guidance, in fact, I may ask you for it. This is your family, and I am here to serve you in how you want your children raised and household run. There are so many fulfilling and wonderful aspects to this calling, and I never thought I’d 1.) do this for a living or 2.) love it so much, but I really, really do.

My experience with special needs children...

Some but not much. I'm certainly willing to learn with guidance from parents on what they expect and need from me. Clear communication is key and SO helpful, I love having guidance and clear expectations. Please always feel free to tell me what I can be doing better or different, regardless of your child’s needs and abilities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

So many! Kids are absolutely hilarious sometimes there’s truly too many moments to count. I love when they get along well, when they feel loved and secure in my care, and can be authentically themselves.

It's also awesome when maybe a child has made a mistake, has natural consequences to that error, or needs correction but we work through it together, and growth and maturity is developed, and peace, harmony and unity is achieved. A lesson is learned and applied, and growth and maturity can be seen as the result of what started off as an unpleasant or hard situation. I love helping a child grow into a wiser, stronger, kinder, more loving individual and seeing the fruit of that guidance.

Snuggling with newborns, calming their cries, feeding them, sensory exploration and play is SO sweet always. Their adorable giggles and smiles are the absolute best. Rare is a feeling that rivals a baby falling asleep in your arms.
