More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
My most recent position was as a Teacher at a before and after school care program for elementary children (Y5-5) located within Lincoln Consolidated Schools. I also additional have experience substituting for preschool (3 years-4 years) classrooms, also located within Lincoln Consolidated Schools, and substituting in daycare classrooms with children from the ages of 6 weeks through 5 years at another location (same childcare providers).
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love making crafts, music, and playing outside! I prefer to limit screen-time as much as possible so the children can foster their creativity in other ways—including nature! I love to go outside, when the weather permits, and do things like spot animals, fly kites, and play on the playground.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Making the child(ren) feel heard, cared for, and understood. Providing the child(ren) with a space where they feel safe, free to be themselves, and loved at every moment.
My experience with special needs children...
I have limited experience with special needs children, but I am always open to learning!
The most important part about being a nanny...
This wouldn’t count as a “nanny” moment, as most of my experience comes from preschool and elementary before/after care experiences, but my favorite moment as a TEACHER would have to be when a group of preschools saw my walking in the hallway and everyone called out “Ms. Leah!” Before one child exclaimed “Ms. Leah’s our favorite teacher, right guys?” And I hear a roar of “Yeaahh” come from the rest of the preschools. My heart has never felt so full.
Another would be when an 11 year old girl confided in me and then proceeded to tell me that I’m “the type of person who makes people feel like they can talk to them about anything,” on the first day we met. Hearing affirmative words from children and adolescents is one of the best feelings in the world — because you know they’re speaking their minds!
