More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have I worked at a center for children with special needs. Helping to tutor them to keep up in school as well as cultivating programs for them during the summer.

I also taught in South Korea, overcoming language barriers and developing bonds with children aged 3-16. I also became a manager while there and created curriculum not only for the basic and advanced classes, I cultivated aids and programs to help the students with special needs.

I have nannied and tutored various ages in the same house hold at the same time, helping the older children stay on course with school work, while introducing the young ones to phonics/ mathematics/ etc with a program specific to meet their needs.

I have worked with children with eating restrictions and I have easily adapted to prepare meals to accommodate their dietary restrictions

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

One of my favorite things is bible lessons and engaging the children in a way that meets them where they are. I especially love the questions they have and having the challenge of answering them.

I love taking my charges on educational excursions: Water parks, Library, park, etc.

I love incorporating children with the everyday tasks for example: baking bread and letting them help knead the bread or helping crack eggs. It allows them to make a mess and have fun, but they also learn so much.

I love music and I make sure to have music time where we do finger play with the littles and do silly dances while singing loudly. The children are moving, learning, and having fun.

Arts and crafts are a blast and showing the kids different mediums is always entertaining. Macaroni portrait one day, the next day a coffee painting, the next day gathering leaves from outside and making artwork.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part to me about being a nanny is meeting the child and parents where they are. Remembering that charge is a child, growing and developing all the time, so I need to be sure to show grace and love, with an abundance of patience.

The parents are doing their best to provide and care for their child/ children, and flexibility on my part is needed to help them succeed (ie discounts for multiple children, understanding last minute changes to a schedule, etc.)

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think one of my favorite nannying moments was helping my charge with his Shakespeare assignment on Romeo and Juliet. He had to modernize the conversations into a text format and it was SUCH a delight to see him become so engaged and excited to make the conversation believable. It was also hilarious explaining what the text meant for him to modernize it. His faces were priceless and his younger brother couldn't understand why I was so tickled
