A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Leah Johnson (22) and I absolutely love spending time with kids! I graduated from Oakland University in May 2025 and have been working in Oxford since then. I grew up in a large family and have had babysitting roles on and off since I was 14 years old. I am CPR and Red Cross certified, but it has been about 6 years so I am willing to be retrained. I currently work Wednesday-Sunday and babysit two boys (6 and 11). I am available Mondays and Tuesdays currently. I look forward to seeing if I’m a good fit to help out with your kiddos!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Throughout high school and college, I was a part of the LINKS program which meant I was assigned to a child with special needs to help them with their daily tasks and be a friend to them.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy absolutely anything the children like to do! I love spending time outside and try to limit screen time to really get to know the kids I’m with. I am always excited to play any sort of outdoor sport or board games!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important thing I ascertained as a nanny was understanding the specific traits of each individual which influence their behavior in an abundance of ways. Each child reacts differently to any sort of stimuli, and learning how every child handles situations is important when making decisions. For example, one kid may behave better when you make the situation lighthearted and humorous while another kid may only react positively to sternness. Learning the traits of the children I spend time with is very important to me.

My experience with special needs children...

My experience with special needs children is extensive and I have a huge soft spot in my heart for learning more about each individual. I have not been an official babysitter or nanny to a child with special needs, however as I mentioned in my profile I was a part of a mentor program in which I spent almost half of my school day with various individuals with special needs. We would also organize field trips which could be with a group or just one on one depending on the comfort zone of each individual. I spent time in various settings whether it be at school, a public setting, or their home.

The most important part about being a nanny...

It was summer and I was outside with the two young girls I was nannying and we put on a fashion show for their dog, cat, and many chickens! The runway was a tarp laid on the ground and they had a blast trying on their princess dresses. Unforgettable!
