A little bit about me

My whole life is about children! I'm the mother to six wonderful kiddos of my own, and I've worked as a preschool teacher for 10 years. I studied Early Childhood Education in college and I actively stay on top of the current child development research. I'm very interested in the attachment model of parenting and the importance of play. I believe that all behavior is communication and that children feel safest when they know they're loved. While my standards for behavior are high, I am an extremely warm and affectionate caregiver.

My favorite age groups to work with are newborns through preschoolers. I'm a responsive and loving care provider who will support you as a parent. Whether you need me to cuddle your newborn while you take a much-deserved break, or to engage your preschooler in meaningful play-to-learn activities, I'm here for you.

My summer availability is extremely flexible. I work as a preschool teacher during the school year on M-Th, 8am-3pm, from Aug 18th to May 15th.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked as a full-time nanny throughout college as I studied Early Childhood Education. I was also an overnight summer camp counselor.

Since then, I had six of my own children and continued to provide occasional childcare in my home and in the family's homes. I also taught visual art and photography classes for children enrolled in summer day camps.

Since 2018, I've been a 3-year-old teacher at my current preschool. I work M-Th, 8am to 3pm, from mid-August to mid-May.

Before I started working at my current preschool, I worked as a second grade teacher and as a preschool Music & Movement teacher. I've been a Preschool Director, overseeing curriculum and teacher training. I have also worked as a drama teacher and directed musical theatre productions for K-8th graders.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I engage infants and children in developmentally-appropriate, play-to-learn activities.

For newborns and infants, I sing and do finger-plays. I read and help encourage language, fine motor and gross motor milestones. But my favorite thing to do with babies is to cuddle and rock them!

With toddlers and preschoolers, I enjoy songs, reading, arts & crafts, fine motor games, sensory trays, playdough kits, and imaginative play. I also like spending time outside: days at the playground on nice days or simple water play on hot days.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Caring for other mom's babies the way I care for mine! I love making long-term relationships with the families I work with, where the little ones are excited to see me and the parents can trust that their baby is safe & happy while they are gone!

My experience with special needs children...

One of my own children is on the autism spectrum, and two have ADHD. My nephew has muscular dystrophy, and I've provided occasional childcare for him. While these diagnoses present differently for each little one, I'm a patient and understanding caregiver who is happy to help children with special needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Nothing beats the moment when I walk in the front door to see smiling little ones running to me for a hug! I love creating authentic relationships with the kids I provide care for.
