I worked for a friends family taking care of their 7 year old son. I began nannying for them at the beginning of 2021, and continued up until my departure for college. I was responsible for all of his after school care, and some overnight shifts when the mom (full time nurse) was working.

I am an adamant believer in less technology, more nature! That is unless there's a storm, and in that case I am more than happy to snuggle up inside and bake some cookies and find an age appropriate movie! I love going to the parks, going for bike rides, playing board games, taking them for a swim, doing arts and crafts, and finding ways for them to express themselves.

I would say this could be taken as an awful experience... but for a first time nanny who took on a full load (you'll find this to be funny in a few short seconds) it was more of a reflection where I could sit and laugh until I couldn't breathe. I had taken my 7 year old to the park and he had been having tummy troubles but said he felt up for the playground. Within 30 minutes, he had literally pooped his pants swinging in front of at least 10 parents. I could have taken the looks of disapproval as a negative, but once we got him home and all cleaned up he and I fell to the floor laughing. He then explained that he had been dared to drink some milk at school (he is lactose intolerant) and it was a triple dog dare so there was no way he could back down. Oh how his misfortune led to such a hysterical series of events.
